The normal configuration of adding an optional MLX300 pendant (MobileView or Proface) is to include a pendant interface kit to connect the pendants enabling switch and E-Stop signals to the control circuitry of the robot controller. If EtherNet/IP-Safe is enabled, this can be done with CIP Safety, which would remove the pendant interface kit requirement.
MLX300 Optional Pendant Interface Kit
The MLX300 optional pendant interface kit was designed to enforce single point of control. To connect the optional pendant, the robot pendant needs to be removed. The interface kit includes a cable that exists the cabinet and connects to the standard robot pendant port on the controller. This will connect the servo enabling switch and E-Stop signals from the optional MLX300 pendant to the robot controller. It also powers up the MLX300 pendant.

MLX300 Optional Pendant Setup Using CIP
- Connect the MobileView Enabling switch and E-Stop signals into Safety PLC inputs.
- Use EtherNet/IP-Safe (CIP safety) to send these signals to each robot controller.
- Program the Safety Logic Circuit shown below on each controller. This logic will be used to enable servo power and E-stop each controller.
Required Bypass Connector for MotomanSync
For this to function, a specific bypass connector will be required that jumpers the PPDSW signals (Programming Pendant deadman switch). The standard pendant bypass connector doesn’t include these jumpered signals. The bypass connector below will be required for each MLX300 controller in the system.
- 186310-1 CONNECTOR, PROG PENDANT, BYPASS, YRC1000, MOTOMANSYNC
Explanation of Servo Enabling Switch Logic
The table and timing chart below explains why the bypass plug needs the external Deadman Switch (PPDSW) signals jumpered.
- The PPDSW signal is turned ON when the robot pendant bypass connector is installed due to the included jumpers.
- The S-SVON_EN will not appear as a choice in the Safety Logic Circuit if the “SERVO ON ENABLE SIGNAL” is disabled. This will need to be enabled in the maintenance mode with the Safety mode security setting.
MLX300 Optional Pendant Final Configuration
After the optional MLX300 pendant is fully integrated, it can be utilized to jog any robot on each of the controllers in the cell. Since it has complete control of all robots, only one MLX300 pendant can be connected at one time.
