1. Empty Your Temporary (Temp) Folder
Corrupted or leftover files from previous installation attempts frequently block the extraction.
- Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type %temp% and press Enter.
- Press Ctrl + A to select all files, and press Delete. (Skip any files that Windows states are currently in use).
- For a thorough cleanup, run the built-in Windows Disk Cleanup tool to remove residual system logs and caches.
2. Ensure Sufficient Disk Space
If your primary drive is full, the installer won't have the room it needs to unpack.
- Open This PC in File Explorer and check that your C: drive has at least a few gigabytes of free space.
3. Run the Installer as an Administrator
The installer may lack the necessary Windows permissions to create or write files in your hidden Temp directory.
- Locate the .exe file you are trying to install.
- Right-click the file and select Run as administrator.
4. Grant Full Control Permissions to the Temp Folder
If administrator privileges do not work, manually update your Windows security settings for the Temp directory.
- Press Windows Key + R, type C:\Windows and hit Enter.
- Locate the Temp folder, right-click it, and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and click Edit.
- Click Add, type Everyone into the box, click Check Names, and hit OK.
- Click Everyone in the group list, check the box for Full control under the "Allow" column, then click Apply and OK.
5. Temporarily Disable Antivirus
Overly cautious antivirus programs or Windows Defender smart-screening can flag and block temporary installer files.
- Temporarily pause your active antivirus protection, run the installer, and then immediately re-enable your protection.
