For the YRC1000 and YRC1000micro we offer VIPA's EtherNet/IP based I/O solution as a standard product to extend the standard hard wired I/O points. The robot controller and VIPA I/O are configured to use the standard subnet of 192.168.1.***. In some cases a customer may desire to use a different subnet. In that case, this guide will explain how to make the change.
Steps:
- Check the electrical prints provided with your system, it will show the current IP address of the VIPA head unit.
- To access the VIPA web server, address switch 8 labeled “WEB” must be switched to the “1” position to enable its functionality. Also, a PC must be connected via a networking cable.
- The web server can be opened from any browser, by connecting to the IP address defined by this switch setting.
- Switches 2, 4, & 6 to ON set the address to “192.168.1.21” (i.e. 1+4+16).
- In this case: http://192.168.1.21
- If the VIPA kit needs to be configured on a network outside of 192.168.1.x, this can be changed
from the IP tab of the web server. - For example, the following figure shows changing the IP. Type in a value, for example:
IP Address “10.7.3.56”: - After editing the IP address, physical address switches (from step #2 above), all settings 1 to 7 must be reset to “0” to avoid overwriting the IP address entered in the web server.
- Cycle power to the device.
- Ping the new address from a PC and robot controller to ensure it has been set correctly.
