How to Expand Variables for DX100
Please make a complete backup prior to performing this procedure!! You will need to reload your jobs after completing this.
When expanding the number of variables for the DX100 controller the customer will find this procedure very helpful. For this example we will expand the position variables in the DX100 controller. If you wish to expand any of the other variables just follow the same steps but select the proper variable you wish to expand. The controller setup will have a max of 128 Position Variables.
Step 1:
You will need to power the controller up in Maintenance mode. Press and hold the Main Menu Key until the first robot screen pops up.
Step 2:
Select the system tab on the touch screen. Then select the security tab.
Step 3:
Select the mode tab and cursor down to Maintenance mode. Next press select button on the teach pendant. Now you have select maintenance mode you will need to enter the security code. Default will be 99999999 unless you change the code.
Step 4:
Select Security Tab once more then Setup tab. Next you will need to cursor down to option function and press the select button.
Step 5:
Now cursor down to the Variable Allocation Detail and press the select button. Cursor down to the variable you are going to expand. For this example we are going to select the position variable and expand them from 128 to 448.. Once you have the courser on Position Variable for the robot. You can decide if you are going to increase or decrease the value to the amount you need. The system has default value amount you can select.
Step 6:
Now press the Enter button on the teach pendant to confirm the new settings. You will need to select yes on the following pop up screens. This will allow you to initialize the system setup for your new variable changes.
Step 7:
Next you will need to cycle power to come up in regular mode. Now go to the variable screen so you can check the max number of variables. Select the Variable Tab on the touch screen. Then Select the Position (Robot) Tab for this exercise. Next Press and Hold the SHIFT KEY on the Teach pendant soft key. While holding the SHIFT KEY, press the Page Button on the Teach pendant soft key. This will allow you to Page backward to the Highest Position Variable in your list. You should see the last variable, for us it will be P447.
You can repeat the steps if you wish to expand any of the other variables in you controller. Just keep in mind when you expand your variable list you will use up some of your program memory in the controller.
