Note the values below for Full Load Current and Largest Motor Load from a recently shipped YRC1000/GP180-120.
How can the Largest Motor Load value be greater than the Full Load Current value?
Our engineering team explains:
FLA is the value of the robot current at the disconnect. This number is calculated by the robot power requirements determined by Yaskawa Japan. For the GP180-120, the robot power requirement is 5 kVA. The robot FLA is determined by using the input voltage of the system. For the YRC1000 380V is used for the calculation as it is the voltage that provides the “worst-case” FLA based on the robot power requirements.
The largest load current on the controller sticker is the maximum ampere rating of the largest motor on the robot. This data is required to be displayed per section 16.4 Machine Nameplate Data of NFPA79. But the motors on the robot do not reach the maximum rated amps.
