ARC TAPER START/END (ARCCTS & ARCCTE)
Current/Wire feed speed and voltage can be changed during welding several ways. Using the AWELD/VWELD instruction or the ARCSET instruction provides an immediate change to those settings. Using the slope in the Arc Start and Arc End files will provide a gradual increase or decrease to these two settings.
When a gradual increase or decrease is required between MOV_s while the arc is on, the ARCCTS and ARCCTE instructions can be used. The change is related to a distance from a taught point rather than the ARCON or ARCOF instruction.
CONTROL TAPERED START Instruction (ARCCTS)
The ARCCTS instruction is associated with a MOV_ instruction following it to gradually change the weld current and voltage during welding at the start of the MOV_. A gradual change is specified as final weld parameters with the change to be started at the start of the MOV_ and obtained at the distance. If no distance is specified, the change occurs over the entire section of the MOV_ instruction.
CONTROL TAPERED END Instruction (ARCCTE)
The ARCCTE instruction is associated with a MOV_ instruction following it to gradually change the weld current and voltage at the end of the MOV_. A gradual change is specified as final weld parameters with the change to be started at a distance from the Command Position and finished at the Command Position. If no distance is specified, the change occurs over the entire section of the MOV_ instruction.
Operation of ARCCTS & ARCCTE
Note the following characteristics of the ARCCTS and ARCCTE instructions:
• The ARCCTS or ARCCTE instruction is valid only within one step.
• If the MOV_ section specified by the motion instruction is shorter than the distance specified by the additional item (DIS=XXX), then the change is performed equally in the entire section of the motion step.
• If the ARCCTS or ARCCTE instruction specifies the distance as zero (DIS=0), then the change is performed equally throughout the entire section of the MOV_ instruction.
• Both the ARCCTS and ARCCTE instructions can be specified for a single MOV_ instruction. In that case, the ARCCTS is executed first and the ARCCTE is executed in the remaining part of the MOV_ section.
