Preparation
This guide only covers the YRC1000micro robot controller. License files are used for some paid MotoPlus applications, for example OPC UA Server and MotoPick. License files are only valid for a single controller. They are generated using the unique MAC address of a given controller. A license file can hold the license for one or many licensed applications. This tutorial assumes that you already have a license file for your controller. Getting a license is a separate procedure. Both customers and Yaskawa Motoman employees should reach out to tech support if they need a license file to be generated for an application. To install a license on the YRC1000micro, the only hardware that you need is an SD card or a USB drive, and a computer with a corresponding slot. This guide was made with the latest controller software version in mind. If the process described in this guide does not match what you are seeing on your controller, it may be due to the software version. Consider upgrading the controller software.
Important Note: One of the steps of this process is initializing your SRAMDRV.DAT file. Note that this may delete important information on the controller, depending on what is currently installed on it. Consider the impact before initializing and take a backup of the CMOS.BIN prior to going through this process.
Setting Option Functions
- Boot the controller into MAINTENANCE mode
- Upgrade to MANAGEMENT security level (all 9’s).
- Touch [SYSTEM] > [SETUP]
- Go to “OPTION FUNCTION”
- Set “MotoPlus FUNC.” to “USED”.

- Confirm the modification.

- Confirm initialization of "SRAMDRV.DAT".
- Shut down the controller.
Installing License Files
- Save the relevant “MotoPlusApp.lic” file onto the root of the memory storage device, as shown below.

- Safely eject the memory device and put it into the back of the pendant.
- Boot the controller into normal mode.
- Upgrade to MANAGEMENT security level (all 9s).
- Go to [EX. MEMORY] > [DEVICE]
- Select “USB:Pendant” or “SD:Pendant” depending on the memory device type.
- Go to [EX. MEMORY] > [LOAD]
- Select “USER DEFINED FILE”.
- Highlight “MotoPlusApp.lic” and press [SELECT] and then hit [ENTER].

- When prompted to load, touch [YES].

- If you get an error saying that the concurrent IO memory is full, initialize the "SRAMDRV.DAT" again and try installing the license after initializing it.
- At this point, reboot the controller into normal mode and you should be able to use the application that you need the license for.
