The panels need to be removed in to install expanded boards. For example, the force control sensor board.
Note that taking off a panel is easier than fitting the panel back in. So, you should not remove a panel unless you are prepared to install the option board.
First, ensure that controller power is cut, all power in the system has been dissipated, and all lock-out tag-out procedures. Once that is all done, open the controller cabinet and remove the battery cover on the Robot Control Module (JAYRM-RCX001) as shown below.

On the backside of the removed battery cover, you will see 2 protrusions. You will use the one marked “A” in the image below for this procedure.

Next, use the protrusion marked “A” and insert it into the top hole of the option panel cover. Push gently to dislodge panel from the mount.

The panel should come loose and you can easily remove it as shown below. Note that there is a similar tab on the bottom of the option board cover plate, too, but it should come loose easily after loosening the top tab.
At this point, you should be able to insert whatever option board is going in.
Make sure to remember to put the battery cover back in its original place.
